On-Grid Photovoltaic System Installation
On-Grid Photovoltaic Systems (Connected to the Electricity Grid)
In the on-grid system, your domestic or commercial solar system is connected to the local distributor’s electricity grid (Meralco), which supplies your home at night or at times when there is no sun.
The energy generated that is not consumed is injected into the distribution grid and converted into energy credits, which can be used to offset this nighttime use. It allowed consumers to exchange generated energy with that from the grid.
The on grid solar kit consists of a solar panel, inverter, module fixing structures, string box, cables and connectors.
Advantages
The total cost of this type of installation is much lower than other alternatives. This is especially true because batteries are not used, which are much more expensive.
The cost of electricity bills can be reduced by up to 95%. Consumers are also protected from energy inflation, which increases every year, and from tariff flags, which are imposed during the water crisis.
The system also requires very little maintenance during its useful life, which is at least 25 years. The return on investment is between 4 and 7 years, meaning the cost is well worth it.
Disadvantages
When there is a power outage on the grid, the inverter switches off to stop injecting energy into the grid, as there are technicians working, which causes an interruption in the system. Another disadvantage, perhaps the most important, is the dependence on the distribution network.

Hybrid Photovoltaic Systems Installation
Hybrid Photovoltaic Systems
Hybrid solar PV systems combine off-grid and grid-connected components. This means that the system is connected to the grid and uses batteries to store some excess energy.
Therefore, hybrid systems are more expensive than traditional on-grid systems, as they require batteries, a hybrid photovoltaic inverter (which works in both on- and off-grid configurations), and other equipment that make up your solar kit.
Advantages
The main advantage is that the hybrid photovoltaic system stores energy in the batteries to be used at night. This means that the electricity bill can be reduced even further, as it uses stored energy when it would consume the most from the distributor.
Another advantage is that even if the grid is down, the lights of those with batteries in their solar energy systems will continue working.
Disadvantages
The biggest disadvantage is that the investment cost is much higher, as batteries tend to be very expensive. Also, due to the batteries, the space required for installation is much larger than for systems that are only connected to the grid. The battery lifespan is also shorter than that of other equipment: 7 to 15 years, which means the investment may not be worth it.
Recommended System Capacity | Installation Package Cost | Package Inclusions |
3kWp Hybrid Solar Panel Installation | Php 224,000 | Professional Services (Design and Engineering) |
5kWp Hybrid Solar Panel Installation | Php 295,000 | Supply of Materials, Logistics, Delivery, Mobilization, Demobilization |
10kWp Hybrid Solar Panel Installation | Php 562,000 | Labor, Net Metering Compliant Installation including electric works, testing, and commissioning |

How much does an installation cost?
It depends on the size, type, and quality of the project. Once you contact a SolarLAb advisor, you’ll receive a personalized analysis and quote.
What happens to the excess energy I produce and don’t consume?
Your electric company will compensate you for any excess electricity you produce but don’t consume; you’ll see this on your electricity bill each month.
Is this type of installation profitable?
Every day it becomes and will become more difficult to cope with rising electricity bills, with prices at or comparable to those of a mortgage. A properly sized and executed installation will save you at least 65% of your annual electricity bill.
Where can I install solar panels?
On any type of roof, whether wood, sheet metal, tile, slate, etc. Sloped or flat roofs. On flat roofs or on the ground if you prefer, with a canopy or portico with or without a shelf (subsidizable). We’ll build your parking lot. We’ll adapt and install your solar plant without any problems wherever you want and wherever is most convenient for you.
Will shadows affect my solar panels?
Fixed and persistent shadows, such as those from trees, chimneys, and TV antennas, will be affected; these are the most common. For this, there are solutions such as power optimizers, installing them only on solar panels that experience these shadows. In more extreme situations, we can opt for microinverters, one per panel. Microinverters also allow for different module orientations.
Can I rely solely and completely on my solar installation and not on the power grid?
Yes, although we emphasize that it must be progressive, generally with several accumulators equivalent to your kW consumption/for this reason, SolarLab has efficient and sustainable solutions such as batteries in a single unit of 15-18-20 kW/h, undoubtedly among the most powerful in the photovoltaic sector.
What is the lifespan of solar panels?
They must have at least the lifespan indicated by the manufacturer. Standard models usually have a minimum production life of 25 years, while high-end models have a minimum production life of 40 years. We have them in stock.
If there is no sun, do solar panels not produce energy?
They do produce energy, although in smaller quantities, which is why the energy efficiency of the panel you choose is very important.
How do I know how many solar panels I need?
The preliminary analysis is really important: contracted power, current and future consumption. Do I have a well or a pool? Will I install central air conditioning? Underfloor heating? How much space do I have on the roof for solar panels? How much do I want to save? What else should I consider?
We take all of these aspects into account; at the very least, we should try to cover our current annual consumption. We’ll explain any questions you may have in detail, free of charge.
Can I add more solar panels in the future?
The power of an inverter must be equivalent to the sum of the peak watts of the panels, and the maximum allowable power of the inverter itself and other aspects according to the manufacturer must be taken into account. Only if the inverter is larger can we add panels or add another inverter in parallel.
What kind of maintenance do solar panels require?
You can clean the solar panels every 6/12 months depending on the environment, with water and neutral soap. In addition, you can optionally have comprehensive maintenance or just cleaning at SolarLab.
Can I add batteries in the future?
If your inverter is hybrid Yes, make sure that the inverter you install is hybrid, and if you have preference for a particular battery manufacturer or brand, make sure before choosing the inverter that it has a reasonable price, linear power and capacity, etc. If you don’t plan ahead, you’ll have to replace your inverter in the future to install batteries.
